Our very own plumbing student Sebastian Battista has just wrapped up his Global Skills Challenge campaign as part of the talented Skillaroos team, ahead of the WorldSkills international competition later this year.

Representing Australia, Sebastian showed off his trade skills on a global platform, competing against a slew of international plumbing students all eager to show off their wares to the world.

TAFE Gippsland plumbing teacher Peter Quinn said the fourth-year apprentice from Moe has been training hard since competing at WorldSkills Nationals last year.

“The WorldSkills experience is a great opportunity for students to test their skills and learn new techniques,” Peter said.

“Sebastian did a great job at the training camp last week in Melbourne, which included a practice competition hosted at Holmesglen TAFE plumbing department. I definitely think he’s ready to compete on the world stage representing Australia in plumbing in France in September.”

With one more practice competition in the lead up to WorldSkills International, Sebastian, who works for his family’s plumbing business Battista Plumbing and Gasfitting Pty Ltd, hopes his intensive training, fantastic support team and focused mindset will bring him success in Lyon later this year.

Go get ‘em Sebastian. We’re very proud of you and can't wait to hear about your international WorldSkills journey in September.
