TAFE-Gippsland-Laura-Macpherson

TAFE Gippsland’s Board today announced the appointment of Laura Macpherson to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at TAFE Gippsland.

Ms Macpherson’s appointment comes following an extensive selection process undertaken by an executive recruitment agency which saw the Board identify her as the outstanding candidate to lead TAFE Gippsland as their new CEO.

Ms Macpherson brings an accomplished set of credentials to TAFE Gippsland including significant corporate and government experience including senior leadership roles across the transport and education sectors. Laura was most recently Interim CEO and Managing Director of Box Hill Institute (BHI), following 4-years in Executive roles across Box Hill Institute.

TAFE Gippsland’s Board Chair Paul Buckley PSM said Ms Macpherson’s appointment will ensure the Institute can continue to build upon the many successes of the past few years following the rebranding of Federation Training to TAFE Gippsland back in May 2019.

“We are incredibly excited to have someone as highly skilled and capable as Laura Macpherson join TAFE Gippsland,” he said.

“This is a very important time for our Institute as we reach the midway point of our 2021-2024 Strategic Plan. Our focus remains steadfast on building upon our strong organisational culture, maintaining our financial sustainability and most importantly, continuing to grow the provision of high-quality vocational education and training outcomes for students, businesses, and the communities of Gippsland.”

“Laura’s leadership experience and expertise will ensure TAFE Gippsland is well positioned to meet the challenges and opportunities of the coming years ahead and we look forward to her making a significant contribution to our Institute and to the Gippsland region more broadly.”

Ms Macpherson, whose recent senior leadership roles have provided her with significant insight into the Victorian TAFE sector said;

“I am delighted to be joining such an iconic organisation and leading TAFE Gippsland during this exciting period of growth and opportunity. I am looking forward to working closely with industry so our organisation is well placed to deliver critical skills across the Gippsland region.”

Mr Buckley also acknowledged the important contribution of Linda Austin as interim CEO.

“On behalf of the Board of TAFE Gippsland, I would like to acknowledge and thank Linda Austin who has done an outstanding job as interim CEO over the past few months. Linda’s extensive educational background and deep understanding of our Institute has ensured that we have continued to meet our strategic and financial objectives during this transition phase, whilst ensuring our organisational culture remains strong and enduring. I look forward to Linda’s continued leadership as interim CEO until Laura formally commences her role in October and continue her great work as a highly valued member of our Executive Team in her primary role as Director of Educational Delivery.”

Laura Macpherson will formally assume the role of CEO on 3 October 2022.
