Nathan Hammond

Study has not come easy to Nathan Hammond, but his determination and persistence has resulted in him achieving his education goals.

Nathan came to TAFE Gippsland with a Certificate III in Agriculture (Dairy Production) already under his belt. He commenced a Certificate IV in Agriculture (Traineeship) in order to broaden his skills.

He completed this course whilst working full time as a trainee on a commercial dairy farm. During this time, he also progressed from a farm hard to a supervisor.

During his time at TAFE, Nathan demonstrated great teamwork and communication skills. His mentoring abilities in the classroom in assisting fellow students and his willingness to participate in discussions were always on show.

The agricultural industry is known for its long hours and isolation on farms. His likeminded social networks allow him the chance to mingle with other farmers to discuss, promote and improve their industry.

Although he is a quiet achiever, he has been instrumental in promoting the benefits of VET courses to his peers and younger cohorts through his positive attitude.

Nathan Hammond has persevered through juggling work and study commitments and he is an asset to the dairy industry. He has proven that he is a worthy recipient of the Apprentice of the Year for Food, Fibre, Conservation and Animal Studies.
